They’re hoping to keep the momentum going as the playoffs approach.

The Brockville Braves blanked the Carleton Place Canadians 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Jr. A Braves had also shut out the Canadians at home on Friday night.

In their three-games-in-four-days home stand that started with a win against Nepean on Thursday night, Brockville outscored its opponents 15-1.

“It was great to see,” Braves head coach Randy Jones said in an interview Monday. “The boys had a pretty solid weekend.”

Owen Belisle’s goal early in the second period would prove to be the game-winner Sunday. It was Belisle’s eighth goal of the season.

Former Carleton Place player Ryan Bonfield made it 2-0 on a power-play at 9:17 of the second. It was his 27th goal of the year and 21st since joining Brockville in November. Jack McDonald’s fourth of the season gave the Braves a three-goal advantage at 11:24.

Brockville’s fourth goal of the afternoon was scored on a power play by Nic Lariviere at 11:14 of the third. It was his second goal of the season.

Belisle was named first star. Teammate Colin Elliott racked up three assists and was the second star. Third star went to Derek Hamilton of the Canadians.

Brandon Abbott stopped all 24 shots he faced to pick up the win in net for the Braves. He was also between the pipes for the Braves’ 8-1 blowout of Nepean on Thursday.

Abbott received an honourable mention in the CCHL’s Player of the Week award Tuesday.

Brockville (30-13-0-2) is now six points up on Pembroke and Renfrew for first in the division and third overall. Hawkesbury is second overall, just two points ahead of the Braves.
