It’s going down to the wire.

With one game left in the regular season, the Brockville Braves have a one-point lead on the Renfrew Wolves for first place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division and third overall in the Jr. A league. The Wolves moved closer to the Braves by defeating them 3-1 at the Memorial Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Renfrew opened the scoring at 13:39 of the first period on Tyson Phare’s 10th goal of the season. Justin Dauphinais tied the game just after the midway point of the second; it was his 21st goal of the year.

Tyler Schweitzer restored the Wolves’ lead at 12:33 of the third; it was his second goal of the season. Brockville pulled its goaltender with just over two minutes left in regulation; Mathieu Parent scored his 17h of the year – an empty-netter – just before time expired.

The Braves had the edge in shots 38-27. Will Craig made 37 saves for Renfrew in the win. Sami Molu was in net for Brockville.

Schweitzer, Dauphinais and Craig were named the first, second and third stars respectively.

A matinee crowd of 265 was on hand at the Memorial Centre.
