Braves fall 5-2 to Wolves in Season Finale

After a strong start from the Braves, outshooting the opposition 17-6 in the first period, the Wolves responded in the following two periods to take down the Braves 5-2. Lucas Culhane’s 21st of the season came on the power play to give Brockville a 1-0 lead early in the second. Renfrew’s captain, Tyson Tomasini then responded with two goals of his own at 3:10 at even strength, and at 13:24 on the man advantage. Both goals had to be perfect shots to beat Sami Molu point blank for his 32nd and 33rd.

In the final frame, Jace Letourneau got by a pinching Ty Henry at his own blueline, then took off down the ice and went bar down on Molu for his 8th at 8:42. Culhane would put the Braves back with in one with his second of the game on the power play. A short side wrister past Sebastian Resar for his 22nd of the season at 11:40. Shortly after, Tyson Phare buried a lose puck in front of the Braves net for his 7th at 12:51. Tomasini then put the icing on the cake with an empty net goal for the hat trick and his 34th of the season at 18:05. Resar was outstanding in this one with 43 saves as the Wolves take down the Braves to finish the regular season in the win column.

After trailing Brockville by just a single point in the league standings, Renfrew jumps up into 5th and will face Hawkesbury in round one. As for Brockville, they drop down to 7th and will be up against the 2nd place Navan Grads in the opening round of the CCHL playoffs.
