The Brockville Braves are hot at the right time!

A 3-1 victory over the Kemptville 73’s on Sunday night extends their late season win streak to five. After a scoreless first period, Matt Yeager’s 16th of the season on the power play at 11:18 in the second gave the Braves a 1-0 lead. That lead was then extended by two goals in the third, courtesy of Aidan Yarde’s 9th and 10th markers on the season at 2:05 and 6:28. Kemptville’s only goal came on the power play from veteran blueliner Nathan Merrett. His 8that 14:11 in the third.

Philip Rondina earns his second straight win with a 29 save performance after a shutout against the Cornwall Colts on Friday night.

With their four game win streak snapped, the 73’s now sit just one point above the Colts for the 8th and final playoff spot with two games to go. As for the Braves, a nice climb in the standings to 4th, and await their first round opponent with a pair of games left.

The Braves are off until Friday when they’ll host the Ottawa Jr. Senators at home. Puck drop is 7:30.
