Braves edge Ottawa Jr. Senators in overtime – Recorder & Times

The home team ended the visitors’ six-game winning streak.

The Brockville Braves edged the Ottawa Jr. Senators 2-1 at the Memorial Centre on Friday night. It was the first game of a home-and-home; the rematch is in Ottawa on Saturday night.

Aidan Yarde’s second goal of the young season gave the Braves the victory at 4:46 of overtime. Ty Henry’s first goal with Brockville had evened the score at 8:27 of the third period.

Wil Murphy had given the Jr. Sens a 1-0 lead at 6:47 of the second period.

The Jr. A Braves (now 3-5 on the season) outshot Ottawa (6-1-1) 34-24. Sami Molu made 23 saves in net for Brockville and picked up the victory. Rorke Applebee stopped 32 shots in the overtime loss.

Yarde, Molu and Applebee were named first, second and third stars respectively.

Attendance at the Memorial Centre was listed at 643. The Braves’ first two home games in Brockville this fall also drew more than 600.

Elsewhere in the CCHL Friday night, Smiths Falls picked up a 6-2 win at home against Rockland. The Kemptville 73’s lost 6-5 in overtime to Renfrew.
