Brockville has opened 2022 with a victory.
The Jr. A Braves defeated the Colts 5-2 in Cornwall Thursday night. Luke Tchor scored twice for Brockville – the second being an empty-netter with 48 seconds left in regulation – and was named first star. Caleb Kean, Nic Lariviere and Lucas Culhane also scored for the Braves.
Aaron Shaw had both of Cornwall’s goals. Shaw was named third star; second star went to Kean.
Brockville outshot the Colts 37-22. Sami Molu picked up the win in net for the Braves. Dax Easter, who is from Brockville, made 32 saves for Cornwall.
The Braves (19-8-0-2) remain third overall in the 12-team Central Canada Hockey League but are now one point behind second-place Pembroke. Cornwall’s record is 6-18-3-4.
Brockville hosts the Kemptville 73’s at the Memorial Centre on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Kemptville is just two points behind the Braves.
Attendance at the Memorial Centre is capped at 500. Spectators 12 and older are required to show proof-of-vaccination QR code and government-issued ID at the door. The canteen will be open.
