The Brockville Braves went 0-2 this past weekend starting with a 5-2 loss to the Renfrew Wolves on Friday night at the Brockville Memorial Centre. Head Coach/General Manager Dustin Traylen says it was a game that got away from them:
“I think we had a lead with about 10 minutes left in that game and we just couldn’t find a way to close it out. And, when things aren’t going your way, you know their winning goal, which is basically a shot that hits somebody in the leg and goes in the net, it’s frustrating because I felt we played quite well.”
The Braves then fell on the road in Carleton Place against the Canadians, 6-3 on Sunday. Traylen says that some hard luck set the boys back in that one:
“We had a goal disallowed in the first period that clearly was a goal, and it really kind of set us back on our heels…We did compete, but I felt that it’s just some hard luck, but I think the boys are doing a fair job of continuing to plug away.”
Consistency has been a struggle as of late for the Braves with a record of 3-6-1 in their last 10, and they’ll look to improve on that this Friday at home against the first place, Rockland Nationals at 7:30.
The Braves have made a tremendous effort to support some great initiatives this season and Friday is no different with Jersey Night! A portion of the proceeds will be going to the Alzheimer Society of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville and the first 450 people will receive a free jersey!
