Sami Molu is runner-up in CCHL Player of the Week – Recorder & Times

He made a good first impression.

Brockville Braves goaltender Sami Molu received an honourable mention in the CCM Hockey Player of the Week award announced on Tuesday. In his debut weekend with the Braves, the 19-year-old Etobicoke native had a save percentage of 0.955 and a goals-against of 1.44 in two Brockville victories against Cornwall and Renfrew.

Molu also picked up an assist on the tying goal in the Renfrew game that went to a shootout, in which he stopped all five attempts by the Wolves.

Also receiving an honourable mention in the weekly CCHL award was Smiths Falls defenceman Nicolas Lariviere, who scored a goal and added three assists in two wins over Rockland and Cornwall on the weekend.

The Player of the Week was Navan forward Ryan Burke. Nepean forward Jeff Taylor received the other honourable mention.

Brockville will take on the league-leading Jr. Senators in Ottawa on Wednesday night.
