Brockville will be looking to rebound when it hits the ice for the second time this weekend.

The Jr. A Braves were defeated by the Pembroke Lumber Kings 4-2 at the Brockville Memorial Centre on Friday night. It was the second home game of the CCHL regular season for Brockville.

Anthony Biniaris opened the scoring for the Braves at 7:12 of the first period. Riley Thompson made it 1-1 about two minutes later.

Caden Eaton scored late in the second period to give the Lumber Kings the lead. Lucas Culhane tied the game at 11:13 of the third. Eaton’s second goal of the night came at 15:03 and proved to be the game-winner. Jesse Kirkby’s empty-netter with a one minute left in regulation added some insurance for the visitors.

Pembroke edged Brockville in shots 36-34. Dalton McBride picked up the win between the pipes for the Lumber Kings. Will McEvoy was in net for the Braves.

Eaton was named first star; teammate Joe Jordan was the second star. Third star went to Luke Tchor of Brockville.

Attendance was listed at 301. Volunteers once again handled COVID vaccination receipt checks and screening at the door; entering the city-owned arena was more efficient than at the home-opener the previous Friday.

The Braves (1-2) play at Rockland on Sunday afternoon.

Prior to the start of the game Friday night, players from both teams as well as the officiating crew formed a circle at centre ice in recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day. There was a moment of silence before the national anthem was played.
