The winning streak continues.

The Brockville Braves defeated the Navan Grads 7-4 at the Memorial Centre on Friday night. It was Brockville’s 13th consecutive victory.

The Braves jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Troy Bowditch, Mathieu Wuth and Anthony Biniaris, who scored his first goal of the season. The second and third goals were 43 seconds apart in the last two minutes of the period.

Ryan Gillespie made it 4-0 at 7:18 of the second, and Bowditch’s second of the night and 11th of the year gave Brockville a five-goal lead before the midway point of the game. Navan scored its first goal a minute-and-a-half later and cut the lead to three early in the third, but Matthew Donovan’s first goal of the season made it 6-2. The Grads cut the lead in half, but Parker Casey put it out of reach with an empty-netter 65 seconds before the end of regulation.

The Braves outshot Navan 38-35. Simon Harkness picked up the win in net for Brockville. Bowditch and Casey were named first and third stars; Navan’s Jackson Arcan received the second star. There were 506 on hand at the Memorial Centre.

It was the Braves’ 20th win in 27 games this season. Brockville remains second in the CCHL’s Robinson Division but is now just seven points behind Carleton Place with two games in hand.

The Braves’ next game is in Kanata on Thursday night.
