Braves’ winning streak ends at 15 – Recorder & Times

This was one three-goal deficit from which the Brockville Braves were unable to come back.

The Jr. A Braves fell 5-1 to the Lumber Kings in Pembroke on Sunday night. The loss ended Brockville’s 15-game winning streak.

The home team scored three times in the second half of the first period. Tikis call-up Zach White scored his first goal as a Brave at 5:05 of the second period, but the Lumber Kings restored their three-goal lead 21 seconds later and added an empty-netter with 4:16 left in regulation.

Brockville managed to come back from 3-0 deficits against Ottawa and Kanata and win those games within the last two weeks.

Brockville outshot Pembroke 38-34 on Sunday. Jake Begley played the first period between the pipes for the Braves, made 14 saves on 17 shots and ended up taking the loss. Aidan Hosein was in net for the second and third.

Brockville (22-5-3) remains in second place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division, 11 points ahead of third-place Kanata. The Braves will host Carleton Place on Friday night. The league-leading Canadians have a 10-point lead on Brockville; the Braves have three games in hand.

Brockville is ranked #12 in the CJHL’s weekly top 20 announced on Monday; the Braves were 16th last week. Carleton Place moved up a notch from 6th to 5th in the national rankings. There are no other CCHL teams in the top 20.
