It was a lucky Friday the 13th for the Brockville Braves.

The Jr. A Braves defeated the Rockland Nationals 4-0 at the Memorial Centre. Jake Begley stopped all 39 shots he faced between the pipes for Brockville on Friday night and was named first star of the game.

Parker Casey scored on a tip in front of Rockland netminder Cole Hudson to give the Braves a 1-0 lead at 4:08 of the opening period. It was Casey’s fifth goal of the season. Ryan Gillespie made it 2-0 for Brockville when he scored his 11th of the year 25 seconds into the second period.

Colin Stacey padded the lead when he scored his third goal of the season 12 minutes into the third period. Josh Spratt made it 4-0 for the home team on a short-hander with 59 seconds left in regulation. Spratt now has 10 goals on the year.

Brockville outshot Rockland 46-39. Stacey, who also picked up an assist, was named second star. Gunnar Smith of the Nationals was named third star.

Attendance at the Memorial Centre was listed at 459.

The Braves (25-6-3) have now won 18 of their last 20 games but remain in second place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division. Rockland and Ottawa are tied for first place in the Yzerman Division.

Brockville’s final home game of 2019 will be against Kanata next Friday, Dec. 20.
