Braves shut out 73’s for ninth win in a row – Recorder & Times

The Brockville Braves will try to make it 10 consecutive victories on Friday night.

The Jr. A Braves defeated the Kemptville 73’s 5-0 at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on Thursday afternoon. The win solidified Brockville’s hold on second place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division.

Sam Allison’s seventh goal of the season gave the Braves all the scoring they would need. It was 1-0 at 15:11 of the first period. Josh Spratt scored his sixth goal of the year at 18:22 of the second period to make it 2-0.

Brockville added three in the third period on goals by Konnor MacCormick (his fifth), Clay Korpi (his third) and Troy Bowditch (his seventh). Bowditch, who also had two assists, was named first star of the game. Spratt received the second star, and Chase Broda of the 73’s was named third star.

Kemptville edged Brockville 29-28 in shots. Jake Begley picked up the shutout for the Braves. Attendance on “school day” at the municipal centre was listed at 675.

Brockville (16-4-3) will host the Yzerman Division leader Ottawa Jr. Senators (17-8-1) at the Memorial Centre on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Braves are 11 points behind first-place Carleton Place but have four games in hand on the Canadians. Brockville’s total of four regulation losses is second best in the league; Carleton Place has three in 27 games.
