Braves score four in third to beat Lasers – Recorder & Times

The last 10 minutes of Brockville’s game in Kanata on Thursday night made up for the first 50.

Trailing 1-0, the Jr. A Braves erupted for four goals in the second half of the third period to defeat the Lasers 4-1. The victory padded the cushion between second-place Brockville and third-place Kanata in the CCHL’s Robinson Division standings.

Paul Larabie’s 15th goal of the season made it 1-0 for the home team at 10:20 of the first period. There was no more scoring until 10:01 of the third, when Will Torriani tied the game on his seventh goal of the year. Troy Bowditch gave the Braves the lead less than a minute and a half later; it was his 12th goal of the season.

Larabie’s second goal of the game evened the score at 15:45 of the third. Justin McRae scored the game-winner for Brockville 41 seconds later. It was McRae’s 19th goal of the season. Mathieu Wuth added some insurance with his fourth goal of the year 48 seconds later, with 2:46 left in regulation.

Brockville outshot Kanata 39-23. Jake Begley picked up the win in net for the Braves. Bowditch was named first star. Lasers netminder Vincent Bujold-Roux received the second star; third star went to Brockville captain Simon Kerr.

McRae is now tied for second in the league in goals.

The Braves (24-6-3) host Rockland at the Memorial Centre on Friday night at 7:30. Brockville trails division-leading Carleton Place by 10 points; the Braves have three games in hand on the Canadians.
