Braves rout Raiders; Tchor nets hat trick – R&T

The Brockville Braves defeated the Nepean Raiders 8-1 at the Memorial Centre on Thursday night. It was the first of three home games in four days for the Jr. A Braves who, with the victory, moved back into sole possession of first place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division and third overall in the 12-team league.

Jack McDonald gave Brockville the early lead 62 seconds into the first period. It was his second goal of the season. The Braves went on to score three more in the opening frame; the first two were on power plays. Luke Tchor’s 16th of the year made it 2-0, and Ryan Bonfield’s 19th as a Brave and 25th overall gave Brockville a three-goal advantage. The Raiders made a goalie change after Trent Ledrew’s second of the year made it 4-0 at 15:54.

Nepean’s lone goal of the night came from Jordan Graham early in the second. Bonfield made it 5-1 later in the period. In a lively third period, Justin Dauphinais scored his 15th goal of the season and fourth as a Brave at 9:34. Tchor’s second of the game followed 32 seconds later, and he completed the hat trick at 15:52.

Tchor. Ledrew and Nepean’s Coleman Bennett were named first, second and third stars.

The Braves outshot the Raiders 37-23. Brandon Abbott made 22 saves in the Brockville victory.

Attendance at the Memorial Centre was listed at 97.

Brockville (28-13-0-2) will host Carleton Place on Friday night at 7:30 and again on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Canadians (15-24-1-3) are several points out of a playoff spot.

Nepean remains at the bottom of the CCHL standings.
