They’re back to even.

The Brockville Braves were blanked 3-0 by the Renfrew Wolves on Friday night. The Jr. A Braves are now 8-8 on the regular season and remain ninth overall in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) standings.

Aditya Mehta scored what would end up being the game-winner at 9:36 of the first period. It was his second goal of the year. Trent Scullion’s second goal of the season made it 2-0 in the second.

Brockville goalie Sami Molu went to the bench with about 2:40 left in regulation. Renfrew captain Tyson Tomasini put the game out of reach with his ninth goal of the year – an empty-netter – at 18:29 of the third.

The Braves outshot the Wolves 30-21. Sebastian Resar made 30 saves to pick up the shutout for Renfrew. Molu was tagged with the loss.

Resar was named fist star; second star went to teammate Joey Kennelly, who had two assists. Brockville’s Colin Elliott was named third star.

Attendance was 358 at the Brockville Memorial Centre, where mild and rainy conditions outside brought out squeegees and rolls of towel to deal with humidity inside the rink.

With the win, the Wolves are now four points up on the Braves.

Brockville will head up the valley to take on the Lumber Kings in Pembroke on Sunday night.

The Lumber Kings fell to 4-11-0-1 with a 4-3 loss to the 73’s in Kemptville Friday night. The home team had a four-goal lead late in the first period and held on for the victory. Hunter Brazier had the game-winner for Kemptville, which is now 6-8-3. The 73’s will visit the Braves next Friday.

The Smiths Falls Bears moved into first overall in the 12-team league Friday night by edging Nepean 5-4. Reigning CCHL MVP Sean James broke a 4-4 tie with less than a minute to go on regulation. It was his league-leading 18th goal of the season; James now leads the CCHL in points with 28.

Smiths Falls (13-4-0-1) will host Cornwall (8-7-1-0) Sunday afternoon at 2.
