Braves host Nationals on Family Day – Recorder & Times

The Brockville Braves are in action on the holiday Monday.

The Jr. A Braves will host Rockland at the Memorial Centre on Monday at 1:15 p.m. The Braves (35-11-3-4) are three points ahead of the Nationals (36-17-0-2) for the second overall seed in the CCHL.

Brockville was in action in Pembroke on Sunday night; the Braves defeated the Lumber Kings. Braves captain Simon Kerr scored the game-winner at 15:24 of the first period. Ryan Gillespie had given Brockville a 1-0 lead earlier in the opening frame.

Austin Paul made it 3-0 at 4:09 of the third. Pembroke captain and Prescott-area native Jacob Shankar scored the Lumber KIngs’ lone goal at 14:16. Brockville goalie Antonie Bourdeau made 35 saves and was named first star. Shankar and Brockville’s Parker Casey were the second and third stars.

The Braves are 5-0 in February.
