The Brockville Braves will open the Central Canada Hockey League 2019-2010 regular season at home against Carleton Place on Friday night.

There are special activities planned for the Memorial Centre before and after the puck drops at 7:30. Join MNP and the Braves for a barbecue in support of Making Play Possible starting at 6 p.m.

The home opener on Friday will include an appearance by the Clarkson University Pep Band from Potsdam. Brockville GM Dustin Traylen and head coach Randy Jones both played for the Clarkson Golden Knights men’s hockey team.

Brockville will also play a Sunday matinee at the Memorial Centre. Kemptville will be in town to face off against the Braves; the game starts at 3 p.m.

“Everybody’s pretty excited… about getting going,” Jones said in a recent interview.

Brockville shut out Kanata 5-0 in Cardinal on Sunday night to close the pre-season. The Braves lost 4-3 to Kemptville in North Grenville on Saturday afternoon.

“I’m very happy with where we stand,” the coach said following the end of the recent training camp and the weekend pre-season games.

“We had a lot of guys who worked hard and had a great camp,” Jones stated. “It’s just about building chemistry right now.”

The former NHL defenceman coached a midget AAA team in Saint John, New Brunswick for three seasons before coming to Brockville this summer.
