The Brockville Braves still have some work to do before their Christmas break.

The Jr. A Braves will host Kanata at the Memorial Centre on Friday at 7:30. Brockville (25-6-3) is in second place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division; the Braves had a 14-point lead on third-place Kanata prior to the Lasers’ game against Pembroke on Thursday night. Brockville has won 18 of its last 20 games and is 15th in Canada on the this week’s CJHL top 20 list.

The Braves will close out 2019 on the road in Hawkesbury on Saturday night. The Hawks (19-14-2) are in third place in the Yzerman Division.

Brockville’s 2020 opener will be at home against Nepean on Friday, Jan. 3.

Three of the Braves will be spending part of their Christmas break in New England. Goalie Jake Begley, defenceman Simon Kerr and forward Justin McRae were named on Wednesday to the CCHL Selects roster for an exhibition game at University of Massachusetts Lowell on Sunday, Dec. 29.

UMass Lowell is ranked 14th in NCAA Division I. Prior to that, the Selects will take in a tournament game between Providence and Lake Superior State in Burlington, Vermont on Saturday.

Begley has the second-best goals-against average in the league. McRae has 19 goals, which is fifth in the CCHL; he is tied for ninth in league scoring.
