After defeating Smiths Falls 4-2 on home ice Friday night, the Brockville Braves travelled to Nepean and picked up a 6-3 victory against the Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

Mathieu Halle opened the scoring for the Braves at 11:07 of the first period; it was his third goal of the season. Matt McQuade tied the game about six minutes later. Josh Spratt scored on the power play with just over two minutes left in the second period to restore Brockville’s lead. Josh Shimizu responded for the Raiders just under a minute before intermission.

Will Torriani’s third goal of the year came on a power play at 3:25 of the third to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. Spratt’s second of the afternoon and third of the season was also a power-play goal; that made it 4-2 at 5:40. Evan Boucher’s power-play goal at 9:22 cut the lead in half, but Justin McRae restored Brockville’s two-goal lead on his seventh of the season at 14:12. Brockville captain Simon Kerr put the game out of reach with an empty-netter with just over two minutes left in regulation.

The Braves had a huge advantage in shots, 54-25. Raiders goaltender Tyler Laureault was named second star; Spratt and Halle were first and third stars respectively.  Jake Begley picked up the win in net for Brockville.

It was the second time this season that the Braves won two consecutive games. The victories moved Brockville (6-3-3) temporarily into second place in the CCHL’s Robinson Division.

Brockville will try to make it three wins in a row when they host the Lumber Kings at the Memorial Centre on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
