Braves defeat Lumber Kings – Recorder & Times

Make it three wins in a row for the Brockville Braves.

The home team defeated the Pembroke Lumber Kings 4-1 at the Memorial Centre on Friday night. With the victory, Brockville moved into third place in the CCHL Robinson Division standings, one point ahead of Pembroke.

Josh Spratt’s fourth goal of the season for the Braves opened the scoring at 9:15 of the first period on Friday. A short-handed goal by Justin McRae made it 2-0 at 8:31 of the second; it was his eighth goal of the year. Nicolas Guillemette cut the lead in half 40 seconds later.

McRae’s second goal of the game restored Brockville’s two-goal lead at 8:09 of the third, and Troy Bowditch added some insurance with an empty-netter 1:16 before the end of regulation. The goal was Bowditch’s third of the season.

The Braves outshot the Lumber Kings 37-32. Jake Begley picked up the win in net for Brockville; he was also credited with an assist on the empty-netter. Pembroke goaltender Reese Proulx was named third star; Spratt, who also picked up two assists, and McRae were first and second stars respectively.

Memorial Centre attendance on Friday night was listed at 388.

McRae is tied for second in goals scored in the league. Former Brave Emerick Nadeau is tied for the lead with 10.

Brockville (7-3-3) travels to Carleton Place (13-3) on Sunday afternoon to take on the first-place Canadians. Puck drops at 3. The Braves will host Navan on Friday night.
