Molu named 2022-23 CCHL Goaltender of the Year

OTTAWA, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Brockville Braves goaltender Sami Molu has been voted the 2022-23 CCHL Goaltender of the Year.

The 2002 born Toronto, ON native posted a 22-12-3-4 record with a .925 SV%, 2.39 GAA, and a league leading 5 Shutouts. Molu turned aside 1190 shots over the course of the season as he earned Player of the Week honours on two occasions and Goaltender of the Month honours once. He was also named to the 2022-23 CCHL All-Graduate Team. Over the course of two seasons, Molu posted a record of 39-19-3-4 while collecting almost 1900 saves to go along with 6 Shutouts.

“From November to now, there has been no bigger difference maker than Sami,” said Braves Head Coach Dustin Traylen. “He has stolen games and points for our club and we will be leaning on him for some more magic come playoffs.”

Prior to his time in the CCHL, Molu spent time in both the GOJHL and NAHL.

He came up through both the Mississauga Reps AAA and Toronto Junior Canadiens AAA Minor Hockey programs.
